“The company is keen to set up power projects in India and of the four that it intends to develop, two are likely to come up in south India,” the minister said after the high level meeting. Suez India’s Marc Phillipe was part of the 25-member business delegation that met Mr Kumar to discuss investment opportunities in the country.
Suez’s plans would entail mega investments in the power sector but the minister did not divulge the amount of investment that the company proposes to make in India. The locations of the proposed projects were also withheld. Mr Kumar said French companies were keenly looking at investment opportunities in the country’s power and hydro power sector.
The French delegation had met the minister for heavy industries on Monday, where it had reiterated its commitment to invest in the power sector especially after the signing of the technology transfer agreement between Alstom and Bhel for super critical projects.
